April Scoutlook

Hey Y’all

Can you feel it? Spring I mean! Yeah, neither can I.  Maybe someday, but in the mean time we have some planning to do and I thought we could do it during the april pack meeting. Please try and send at least 1 parent to the parent meeting during the pack meeting. Thanks!

Please let me know by March 31 if you will participate in Camp Conservation day at Cub World. Last year we got to plants tree. Who knows what we’ll get to do this year!

Also, WOW (Webelos Outdoor Weekend) is May 16-18. This camp out is for current 3rd & 4th grade dens only. The event will be full of fun and adventure for the novice and experienced camper alike. While the focus is on outdoor fun, the activities will allow Webelos Scouts to have a taste of Boy Scouting while competing in some classic outdoor challenges.  The cost is $12 for scouts & adults are free. Cubmaster Mike will be going but we will need a few parents to accompany him. Please let us know by April 14th if you plan to attend. We will also need parts A & B of the BSA Health Record (attached) for any scout attending. http://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_AB.pdf

By the way, if your scout is planning on attending any resident camp this summer you will need to fill our parts A,B & C. Part C involves having a physical. Here is the link for the BSA health record including part c. http://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_ABC.pdf

Let me know if you are attending any council summer camp programs this year. I need to record it for our Summertime pack awards!

Reminder: if your scout attended any council summer camp last summer he is eligible to earn the Outdoor Activity Award. Please click the link and see if he has completed the requirements and let your den leader know today! You still have time to earn it if he hasn’t completed it!!! Keep working on it! http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/CubScouts/Leaders/Awards/CSOutdoorActivityAward.aspx

2014 bg invite cake bake 2014Hello Everyone

Just wanted to send out the invitation I forgot to bring to the Feb. pack meeting and remind you that we will not be having a March Pack meeting since it is so near to the Blue & Gold. Don’t forget to turn in your scouts advancement to your den leaders! The Blue and Gold is fast approaching and if they haven’t earned rank yet they won’t get to participate in the ceremonies that night. You do have until the end of the year to earn rank we just like to award them at the Blue & Gold with fantastic fun! Don’t worry if you don’t make it in time for Blue & Gold we will still give you a nice ceremony but Cubmaster Mike only dresses up one night a year! ;) If you are unsure where your scout is in his progress towards rank make sure you contact your den leader to find out. You still have a few weeks to finish up. We have a lot of resources so if you are at a loss for what to do don’t hesitate to ask us for help!

Shrine Circus Feb28 – Mar2: Someone from the Emmanuel has generously offered to buy ticket for any scout that would like to go to the circus. If you are interested in taking your scout please let me know ASAP. Hopefully we can get together and go at the same time!

Tonights pack meeting canceled

Well Everyone

We are canceling the pack meeting tonight. The reason, I asked myself, if we weren’t leaders would we be taking Luke out with Asthma in this cold? The answer, no. I know the pinewood is next week so if you have any questions please let us know. Thanks and stay warm!

January Pack meeting

Last minute idea! Everyone bring a hotwheel to the pack meeting on Monday. We will race them to “practice” for the pinewood derby. After that we will make a neckerchief slide out of them, so make sure it’s a car they don’t mind not playing with anymore!

Scoutlook – December

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I hope you enjoy your time off this week. If you have to work at a store on black Friday we’ll be praying for you! If you will be shopping during black Friday take a look at our wish lists for the Sauls Shelter and the Shoeboxes. You might find some good deals! Please help your scouts find ways to raise money to help pay for the items! Be sure to bring a shoebox wrapped so it can be opened, in Christmas paper to the December 2 pack meeting. We will be putting the shoeboxes together at the meeting!!!!

2014 Membership is due at the December 2 pack meeting. The cost is $65 this year. Please contact me ASAP if you need a payment plan. Money in your scout account from popcorn sales will go toward dues.

I’m going to try something new. J I am going to try to only send 1 email a month. I seem to be copy and pasting my emails lately anyway so that will save us all some time. Me writing and you reading. J we’ll see how that works out for me. ;) This is a long one so please read it all!!!!!

December Pack meeting LOCATION CHANGE: Emmanuel UMC decorates for their Santa Breakfast the weekend before our Dec. pack meeting so we won’t be able to use their fellowship hall that night. We will meet instead at Clough Pike Baptist Church, 1025 Clough Pike, Cincinnati Oh.

Den leaders: Be sure to turn your achievements in to Jared so he can record it and get a shopping list to mike in time for the pack meeting. Also, make sure your new guys have earned their Bobcat badge. We want to get everyone’s awards by January at the latest!!!!! Also please let me know if you will be canceling any meetings for Christmas or changing any that need to go on the calendar! We ill not award any rank after the January pack meeting. We will wait for the Blue & Gold !!! By the way, the theme is Vintage Monster Mash Pack 464! The old timey monster movies!!!!

Help needed for upcoming events: Pinewood Derby- January 12, Scout Sunday Chili Cookoff – February 9th, Blue & Gold – March 7th

Baloo training: ANYONE interested in getting Outdoor leader training please let me know. You don’t have to be a leader to take it. I’m working on putting one together in April.

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

This one day course is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for those leaders who are interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. BALOO is an instructor-led course which is conducted at the Council level. BSA’s Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the necessary tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience. Completion of this course is mandatory for at least one adult on a Pack overnighter.

Scoutlook 11-11-13

Thank you Aol & Tigers for planning your den outing and letting me know so I could add it to the calendar!

2014 dues will be due at the December pack meeting instead of the November one. Dues have gone up to $65 this year due to National raising membership and Council raising insurance. We will have scout account amounts at the November pack meeting. We will again be giving the scout 12% of their total sales. You may use that toward their dues if you would like. Please let me know if you have any questions!

LEADERS!: Be sure to be letting Jared our Advancement chair know about your den’s advancement.

Wolves/Webelos/Leaders! Also be sure to check your room assignments below. Unless you have made arrangements I don’t know about Wolves should be meeting in the Multi-Purpose room and Webelos/AOL should be in the fellowship hall!

November is Den Outing month! Parents help your den leader out by planning as outing for the den. You could visit a museum, the police station, the fire station, or just go out for ice cream!

December is our Shoeboxes for Shelters pack meeting. Be sure to bring a shoe box wrapped in Christmas paper so it can still be opened. We will be filling them at the meeting! Attached is some ideas! Please have your scout find ways to earn money to buy items for the shoeboxes!

Final POPCORN pickup is this Saturday at Teresa Westendorfs home from 9:30-11:30 am. PLEASE make sure you pick up then!

Also for December, please check with your den leaders to find out when or if you will have your meetings. Generally we have the pack meeting and 1 den meeting in December due to the holidays.
